On a small private island in the middle of the Zambezi, Sindabezi Island Lodge is tranquil, romantic and beautiful. There are just five open fronted thatched chalets, hidden amongst the island’s abundant trees and facing out to the timeless river, with canvas screens that can be rolled down at night for extra security. Each is spacious and completely private, spread out across an island where the only inhabitants are lodge guests and staff. It is not possible to get closer to nature, with open air bathrooms and the constant soundtrack of hippo pods, birdlife and flowing water, which is particularly delicious as the sun rises to illuminate your chalet.

Sindabezi’s eco-credentials are unquestionable, with natural materials used throughout and as little impact as possible left on the island vegetation, but the lodge is still extremely comfortable and attractive, a true example of rustic luxury. The island itself has numerous little alcoves, nooks and crannies, where secluded decks provide the perfect environment for a sundowner drink or nightcap. All of the usual Livingstone activities are offered as part of your stay, including guided tours of the Victoria Falls, and Sindabezi is sometimes combined with stays at its riverbank sister property, Tongabezi.
