Kasaka River Lodge is a comfortable, unpretentious camp that is perfect for family safaris. Situated just outside the Lower Zambezi National Park in the Chiawa Game Management Area, each of the ten chalets is hidden amongst the natural riverside flora and fauna, leaving little environmental impact on the area. There are eight Classic Tents on wooden decks, spacious and tastefully decorated, with viewing platforms and en-suite bathrooms. Honeymooners and romance seekers will enjoy the Wild Mango Suite, with its secluded location, four poster bed and open-air stone bath. Alternatively, the Hippo Pod is ideally suited for families, a private house with two canvas bedrooms connected by a lounge area, and a viewing deck where private meals can be served.

Kasaka’s innovative Bush Kids programme introduces younger guests to the sights, sounds and smells of the wild in activities where safety is maximised and durations tailored to shorter concentrations spans, but these family based programmes don’t impact at all on other guests staying at camp. Between activities, there is a refreshing swimming pool and a comfortable lounge and bar, all with excellent views of the river and its varied wildlife. With game drives, walking safaris, canoeing, fishing and river cruises, plus some outstanding game viewing from the camp’s elevated position, Kasaka is a great Lower Zambezi safari option.
